A Midsummer Night’s Dream
This set is representing the fairy woods where most of the play takes place. The raked stage is made of custom made rostrum in timber and plywood. We then carved polystyrene, scrimed, to give it the padded look you can see on the picture. It is finished by tones of red and glitter.
The trees of the forest are metal structures we welded together. The seats are coiled ropes and the jewels are painted clear plastic bowls. For the branches we used metres of electric wires and pipes of some sort ... just about anything we could lay our hand on really... sometimes, this is what it is all down to. Only your imagination is your limit, as long as it is safe. I think we purchased the leaves though. The whole pieces were sprayed in metallic paint and treated with fire retardant.
