Client Holiday Supermarket, Trafford Centre, Manchester

Date 2001

Naval scene

Timber Tailors Ltd is a shop fitter company based in Birmingham who were carrying out Holiday Supermarkets fit outs. I was called to complete a job in Manchester at the Trafford Centre after the sudden death of their usual artist.

I had the daunting task to quickly learn his signature style of painting. Even more difficult one painting was already started and I had to continue his beautiful work of art, analysing his brush stroke to do him justice and honour his memory. To pay him tribute you can see in the front of the last vessel: ’In memory of Trevor Jones’.

Because of the events, the completion had been delayed by couple of weeks and we were nearing handing over. I was given less than half the necessary time to complete this project, and I did so around other fitters. You can see computers already installed on desks and the light fittings.

This is a very large mural of over 12 metre long and 3 metres high. There were 2 other murals at the same venue.

This was probably my most difficult commission because of the circumstances, the working conditions and the time frame.
